MOL League: 2 Wins on the Road and 1 at Home

AV19-UTE 2-4

UTE traveled down to Fehérvár where they would take on fourth place Volán who had a four point lead on the Budapest team sitting in fifth place. The Újpest net was defended by Ales Sila while the home cage was being protected up Alex Scola. Both goalies shut down the opposing side in the first period and into the second. Fehérvár went up 1-0 when Brance Órbán set up Chris Bodó for the short handed goal, minutes later it was Órbán that lit the lamp to doubled the Fehérvár lead. Less than two minutes later Újpest also found the back of the net thanks to a goal off of the stick of Martin Turbucz, before the second period was out Karol Csányi had pulled Újpest even at 2-2. The two goal scores combined for the third UTE goal as Csányi assisted on Turbucz’s second goal of the game. Ádám Pichler made it 4-2 as UTE picked up an important three points as they closed the gap on Fehérvár.

FTC-DVTK 1-5

Ferencváros hoped to have a respectable showing after they lost last week in Miskolc 12-4,the visitors were with Balázs Láda and Roland Hajós, Márton Mach was missing for FTC. The two goalies who faced each other was Krisztián Budai and Attila Adorján. DVTK took a 2-0 lead in the first period when Kalvin Sagert took a shot from the left faceoff circle that made it through traffic and past Budai, Attila Pavuk doubled the lead when he took a feed from behind the net from Nikandrosz Galanisz. Ferencváros had a chance to get on the scoreboard but were not able to convert on a two man advantage late in the first period. The defending champions made it 3-0 after some slick passing by Pavuk and Mátyás Vojtko got Budai out of position that Galanisz tapped the puck into the empty net. As the game when on Ferencváros were picking up the pace of the game but DVTK was able to make it 4-0. In the early minutes of the third period FTC had just killed a penalty with Budai was stuck on his back the puck jumped out to Balázs Gőz put a tight shot from the goal line over Budai. Ferencváros was able to take advantage of a power play to prevent them from being shut out, Tamás Erdélyi nicely picked out the top corner blocker side to make it 4-1. Ferencváros could not get any closer, in the last minute of Justin Cseter put a rebound in to set the final at 5-1.

MAC-DAB 4-2

After upsetting second place Debrecen the night before Dunaújváros was planning to do the same against third place MAC as well. The home team was without Arnold Silló who broke his ankle against DVTK, DAB was without Bence Dörök because of a six game suspension. MAC had Gergely Arany in net with Dávid Duschek defending the goal across from him. The two goalies went head to head as both stopped ten shots apiece but in the second period Duschek face an incredible 22 shots in the second period. All the goal scoring action happened in the final twenty minutes. Ian McDonald opened the scoring early in the third period on a power play goal scored from the top of the faceoff circle, Phil Busbacher tied the game up at 1-1 only minute later. Dunaújváros took their first lead of the game when Zsolt Azari was able to put one past Arany. MAC tied it up and took the lead as they scored 15 seconds part, first Viktor Tokaji threw a shot on net which Duschek saved but Hayes put the rebound in, the go ahead goal came off the stick of Nikoe Saarenpaa. Dunaújváros pulled their goalie in an effort to even it up but Tomas Klempa found the back of the empty net to set the final at 4-2
