The last time these two teams faced each other in Brasov the home team won in a shootout. Debrecen had their head coach from last season back behind the bench as Evgeni Muhin was back with the team again. Starting in net was Savva Borodin for the visitors and Zoltán Tőke for the home team. The first twenty minutes did not bring a goal, the two goalies kept the game scoreless until 21:17 of the game when Evgeni Pysarenko set up Mátyás Bíró for the first goal and the home team lead. Later in the period Ákos Berta beat Tőke for the equalizing goal, the game stayed locked up at 1-1 until there was less than two minute left in the period when Gergő Bíró put the puck past Borodin on the power play to give Brasov back the lead. In the closing minutes of the game Debrecen pulled their keeper but Gergő Bíró scored his second of the game for the empty netter at the end. for the 3-1 Brasov win.
