This is what everyone has been waiting for since the start of the season, there are a number of storylines going into the finals. DVTK swept the regular season series against second place MAC. Last years championship coach Gergely Majoross is back in the finals with MAC going against his former team. In the offseason he brought with him Bence Bálizs, Krisztián Nagy and Dezső Roczanov.
DVTK started the season with Mark Guggenberger in net but an injury forced him to miss the rest of the season, in came Attila Adorján who played solid but he was not available during the U20 world championships, in came Dávid Gyenes who was back after missing a year and half and looked just as good as before. On the blue line there were a number of injuries and right before the transfer window closed they picked up Garrett Clarke and Brad Smith. Balázs, Jakkor Leppanen will most likely miss the series because of their injuries however Jesse Dudás will be back from suspension, Kalvin Sagert has been the anchor of the unit with Mátyás Vojtkó playing solid as well.
The real strength of DVTK comes in their forward unit, they have three solid lines with any of them being able to score if one of the other ones is struggling. Jon Booras led the team in scoring, with Keegan Dansereau being the leading scorer in last years playoffs, they also have a pair of Hungarians who averaged a point a game in Nikandrosz Galanisz and Balázs Somogyi. During the semifinals against Debrecen Justin Cseter scored in every game as well.
MAC being an expansion team that has a number of young players on their roster could be lacking the playoff experience that Diógyőr has. In net Bence Bálizs has played every playoff game and most of the regular season if he has a good series he could be the key to this series. Defensively MAC has a couple of veterans in Tamás Pozsgai and Viktor Tokaji as well as imports Mike Quinn and Drew Olson. Bence Stipsicz scored timely goals against Volán but once you get past the four there is a lack of depth. An injury or suspension could mean trouble for MAC.
MAC had the top three leading scores in the league in Ian McDonald, Tomas Klempa and Jeff Hayes. Niko Saarenpaa and Krisztián Nagy also found the back of the net a number of times however Klempa picked up an injury in the closing minutes of game seven and will not be available. Gergely Majoross will need to find the right line combination to make up for this.
DVTK has a more physical style of play and the play in front of both goals will be a key factor for the series.
