FTC-UTE 3-5

There was a classic Friday night matchup in Pesterzsébet as UTE travelled south to take on FTC in a Budapest derby. Krisztián Budai was in net for the home team with Ales Sila defending the visitors cage, UTE was without Karol Csányi. Ákos Kiss gave UTE the early lead when sniped the top corner on a break away, the lead didn’t last long as eleven seconds later Juha Hietamaki skated right to left through the hashmarks and shot the puck back against the grain over Sila’s glove for the goal. Fradi opened up a two goal lead as Dávid Horváth and Jereme Tendler scored in under a minute. To shake things up UTE coach Zoltán Hetéssy switched Sila for József Pleszkán, and this worked as neither team scored in the rest of the period and also through a scoreless second period. In the third period UTE looked to still have their legs underneath them, Tamás Virág made it a one goal game when put the puck between Budai’s legs and into the back of the cage. UTE tied it up when Eric Pance let a rocket fly that Budai had no chance of saving, just as the game looked as if it was going to go to overtime Dániel Kiss put a shot wide, the puck bounced off the back boards, Budai was slow to get across the crease and VIrág put the puck into the empty net. Fradi pulled the goalie in hopes of tying the game Mihálik scored two seconds after the faceoff to lock up the win for UTE.
