MOL League: Disciplinary Commission Decree

The Disciplinary Commission no.2015-16/033 decree

The Disciplinary Committee investigated 3 cases of the MOL Liga 189 (Debreceni HK – DVTK Jegesmedvek) match, where the referees gave penalty in all cases . The Committee made the following conclusions:

Case 1

Kalvin Ryan SAGERT (DVTK Jegesmedvek) after 36 minutes, collided with an opponent, who crashed into the boards with great force . After the crash the player Debreceni HK lost consciousness for a short time , and he could not continue the game. The referees gave the player 5 + 20 minutes penalty (CHARG, GA-MI).

IIHF rule book RULE 122 – CHARGING

DEFINITION: A player who, after skating towards an opponent, checks him with unnecessary force or who runs at or jumps into an opponent. A player who injures or recklessly endangers an opponent as a result of charging will be assessed a major penalty and automatic gamemisconduct penalty or match penalty.

According to the decision of the Disciplinary Committer, the collision hit the player who shoots the puck, when the shot had already been shot . The crash was unnecessary, arrived late and was not involved in the fight for the puck and the goalie had possession of it. In the case of the non-offending player suffered injury.

The Disciplinary Commitee suspends Kalvin Ryan SAGERT, the DVTK player for 2 MOL League matches.

Case 2

After 47 minutes, Danil KASKOV (Debreceni HK), and Balazs GOZ (DVTK Jegesmedvek) evolved from a fight. The referees gave 2+2+2+10 minutes penalty ( ROUGH, GA-MI) to the DHK player, and gave 2+2+10 minutes penalty (ROUGH, GA-M) to the DVTK player. The player DVTK after the incident behaved unsportsmanlikely, and he was given another 10-minute Misconduct penalty, which changed automatically Game Misconduct penalty (GA-MI).

IIHF rule book RULE 158 - ROUGHING

DEFINITION: A player who jostles or strikes an opponent during the game. A player involved in a confrontation with an opponent will be assessed a minor, double minor, or major and automatic game-misconduct penalty. A player who removes his glove(s) to engage in a confrontation with an opponent will be assessed a misconduct penalty.

IIHF rule book RULE 168 – UNSPORTSMANLIKE CONDUCT

DEFINITION: A player or team official who commits a violation of the rules pertaining to sportsmanship, fair play, and respect. If a violation is flagrant or if a player continues his unsportsmanlike conduct, he may be assessed a misconduct penalty.

According to the decision of the Disciplinary Committe, the struggle was not necessary. The DVTK player unruly behavior was extremely unsportsmanlike after the scuffle. The blaming of the referees, and disregard of their authority is not part of hockey.

The Disciplinary Commitee suspends Balazs GOZ, the DVTK player for 2 MOL League matches.

Case 3

After 60 minutes Patrik POPOVICS (DVTK Jegesmedvek) tangled with his opponent, and initiated a scuffle after a face off in front of the net. The referee penalized the player 5+20 minutes (ROUGH, GA-MI).

IIHF rule book RULE 158 - ROUGHING

DEFINITION: A player who jostles or strikes an opponent during the game. A player involved in a confrontation with an opponent will be assessed a minor, double minor, or major and automatic game-misconduct penalty. According to the decision of the Disciplinary Committee, during the scuffle POPOVICS Patrik ignored the referee's instructions, and he hit repeatedly the player’s head from behind of the player, who had alredy been lying on the

The Disciplinary Commitee suspends Patrik POPOVICS, the DVTK player for 1 MOL League matches.

During the tournament for Kalvin Ryan SAGERT and Patrik POPOVICS, second time was imposed Game Misconduct (GA-MI) penalty.

IIHF rule book RULE 109 - DURATION OF PENALTIES - GAME MISCONDUCT

A player who receives two game-misconduct penalties in the same game or different games of a tournament or event is automatically suspended for one further game.

Kalvin Ryan SAGERT and Patrik POPOVICS skip one more match of his team. All in all, Kalvin Ryan SAGERT prohibited the next 3, and Patrik POPOVICS prohibited the next 2 Liga matches.
