The Disciplinary Commission no. 2015-16/009 decree
The Disciplinary Committee investigated the case in the 5th minute in the MOL League 57 (DAB-DVTK) match, where Bence DOROK (DAB) collided with DVTK player, the referees gave 5 minutes + Game Misconduct penalty.
The Committee decided the following:
The DAB player irregularly collided, using hand and elbow during the collision, after 5 minutes near the board, so he hit the the opponent's head and neck.
RULE 124–CHECKING TO THE HEAD OR NECK
DEFINITION: A player who directs a hit of any sort, with any part of his body or equipment, to the head or neck of an opposing player or drives or forces the head of an opposing player into the protective glass or boards. This rule supersedes all similar actions regarding hits to the head and neck except those related to fighting.
A player who injures or recklessly endangers an opponent as a result of checking to the head or neck will be assessed a match penalty.
Disciplinary Committee determines that Bence DOROK’s purpose was not to play the puck. The player jumped up, took his stick in one hand, and hit the opposing player’s head with all of the energy of his body. The DVTK player suffered a minor concussion, he could not continue the game.
Such and similar acts are unsportsmanlike and unacceptable, contrary to the MOL League’s and hockey’s spirit.
The Disciplinary Committee took in mind during the decision that the movement was willful, and could have caused serious injury. According to IIHF rules and guidelines, the attack of the head and neck area is one of the most serious irregularities.
The Disciplinary Commission suspends Bence DOROK, DAB No. 62 player for the next 6 MOL Liga matches.
