The Disciplinary Commission no.2015-16/028 decree

The Disciplinary Committee investigated the MOL League game MOL 166 (Ferencvarosi TC - UTE) where Teemu ELOMO, player of UTE collided with the opponent player. The Committee made the following conclusions:

In the first period, the UTE player irregularly collided with his hand, and his elbow crashed into the opponent's head.

IIHF RULE 124 – CHECKING TO THE HEAD OR NECK

DEFINITION: A player who directs a hit of any sort, with any part of his body or equipment, to the head or neck of an opposing player or drives or forces the head of an opposing player into the protective glass or boards. This rule supersedes all similar actions regarding hits to the head and neck except those related to fighting. There is no such thing as a clean hit to the head. Whether accidental or intentional, every direct hit to the head or neck of an opponent will be penalized.

Establishment of the Disciplinary Committee is that during the conflict the forward of Ferencvaros TC was skating backwards and he was unable to prepare for the conflict. According to the rules there is no such thing as a clean hit to the head. The opposing player must always consider if the motion will cause an injury. In this case the puck was not nearby, so the opposing player should have done everything what possible to avoid the collision.

According to IIHF rules and guidelines, the attack of the head and neck area is one of the most serious irregularities.

The Disciplinary Committee suspends Teemu ELOMO, the UTE player for 1 MOL League match.

The player will spend down his sentence at the next MOL League match.
