For the first time this season the MOL League had a pair of games on Saturday afternoon. Ferencváros was trying to avoid losses in back to back days where has DVTK was trying to put some space between themselves and the rest of the league.
FTC-Brasov 2-3
Brasov travelled to Ferencváros for the first time this season, it was also the first time that Juha Hietamaki and Greg Lindqvist would be facing their former team. Ferencváros was without Edgar Apelis, along with Márton Mach and Tamás Odry, Krisztián Budai was in the net. Brasov look to be rotating goalies as Zoltán Tőke got the start for the visitors. Ferencváros broke the ice late in the first period when Juha Hietamaki on a power play, put a shot on net from the blue line that Tomas Valecko redirected past the Brasov keeper. In the second period the 4th line for Brasov stepped up as Dennis Dumitru ripped a shot from the left faceoff circle that Budai could not control and Ottó Bíró buried the puck into the back of the net. Fradi took back the lead when Jimmy Jensen took pass on the right wing, skated in and slipped it past Töke, however Brasov managed to tie it up again before the period was out. In the last twenty minutes things started to get heated but in the end the veteran captain Árpád Mihály stepped up to win it for Brasov as his scored the winning goal.
Brasov head coach Ottó Keresztes: We knew that they can skate really well and the only chance we had was to pick up their pace, we were lucky that when they scored we were able to answer every time. In the second and third period we were concentrating on defending and we should charcter today.
DVTK-HSC 7-2
After having a shutout Friday night Attila Adorjan was back in between the pipes against Csíkszereda. On the visiting side Gellért Ruczaj was given the starting spot, HSC did not get back any of their injured players, however two new imports, a pair of Latvians made their debut, Kalvis Ozols and Kirils Tambijevs. Diósgyőr followed up what they did last weekend in Transylvania and that was to score early and often. The home team started slowly as Balázs Láda scored the only goal in the first twenty minutes, however they did not wait long to score their first goal in the second period, which came on a power play goal by Nikandrosz Galanisz, Roland Hajós and Adirán Tóth were credited with the assist. Later in the period the three forward combined again for a power play goal, this time Tóth put the puck past Ruczaj and Galanisz and Hajós got the helpers, with a Jesse Dudas short handed goal making it 4-0 after two period. A second Láda goal in the third period put the game out of reach for HSC, Shane Heffernan and Anton Berlev scored the two visiting goals of the game which happened to bookend a pair of DVTK power play goals in the third period, coming of the sticks of Kalvin Sagert and Balázs Somogyi.
DVTK Head Coach Péter Mayer: We started the game a bit slow but then things started to come together, our special teams worked well, in the end we kind of lost our focus but I’m happy with our performance since we won.
