Sunday March 8th in Miskolc the puck will drop in Game 1 of a best of seven series between Miskolc and Nové Zámky in the MOL League Championship Series.

Miskolc swept last years silver medalists in four games, and will have home ice advantage throughout the finals. Nové Zámky who looks to defend their title made it back to the finals after a four games to one series win over DAB.Docler who finished one place ahead of them in the regular season. With Miskolc being the last Hungarian team left in the MOL League playoffs they have won their first Hungarian title in their 37 year history.

Conor O’Donnell who was signed right before the closing of the transfer window needed some time to pick up the pace of the league as he has not stepped on the ice in over a month, he in the semi finals he finished with 0 points and minus two, with the time off and the work with his teammates O’Donnell is sure to have a positive impact on his team. For the Slovak side it is still to be determined if Tomas Chrenko can play after getting slashed on the wrist by Nathan Martine. With the ski season coming to a close Lubomir Hurtaj was able to talk Peter Polcik back on to the team after Polcik left when last season’s coach Robert Spisak left as well.

Miskolc will heading into the finals having two strong goaltenders with Bence Bálizs probably being the starter. Nové Zámky started the playoffs with Lukas Cikánek but in game four against DAB.Docler Hurtaj had to pull him in favor of Krajcovic, Krajcovic went on to start in game five, it will be interesting to see who Hurtaj will turn to in the finals.
