MOL League: First Round preview

2016.02.17. 11:01 |
The first round of the MOL League playoffs are underway this week with a best out of three playoff series. The lower seeded team is the host of the opening game with the next two being played at the venue of the higher seeded team.

Fehérvár AV19 (3)-Ferencvárosi TC (6)

Fehérvár had an outstanding first season back in the MOL League considering that they are a farm team and players being called up to the EBEL squad. They had a number of injured on the blue line throughout the season. Gergely Korbuly is out for the rest of the season with Ádám Z Hegyi also having some problems at the end of the season. Fehérvár will also have some of the players from the EBEL squad playing down but it will most likely be the younger players.

Ferencváros is back in the playoffs after being left out the last couple of seasons. They have a shorter bench with in general but what they are lacking in depth they make up in grit. They will be without Márton Mach, Dávid Horváth, Zalán Fliszár, Attila Rafaj and Bence Zalavári for the rest of the season.

Game 1: Thursday 19:30 (M4) Ferencváros-Fehérvár AV19

Game 2: Saturday 17:00 FehérvárAV19-Ferencvárosi TC

Game 3: Sunday 14:00 Fehérvár AV 19-Ferencvárosi TC (if needed)

Debreceni HK (4)-UTE (5)

In their second season in the league Debrecen made the playoffs for the second time, whereas UTE improved on their sixth place finish by one place. Debrecen will be playing the first game of the playoffs without defenseman Kasper Emanuelsson and Bronson Kovács will be missing the entire first round as both players are suspended. Everyone else looks to have recovered from their injuries. Újpest looks only to be missing their goalie Ales Sila, who might actually be the most valuable player for the team, aside from him the team looks to have a full healthy roster for the start of the playoffs.

Game 2: Saturday 18:30 Debreceni HK-UTE

Game 3: Sunday 18:30 Debreceni HK-UTE (if needed)
