
Friday night brought four exciting games to the MOL League fans as there were upsets and close exciting games as well.
UTE-DVTK 6-1
Diósgyőr traveled to Budapest in hopes of putting space between them selves and the rest of the league. Where as UTE has been trying to figure out how to score goals all season. Újpest went with Ales Sila in net with the last weeks player in the week Attila Adorján was in net for DVTK. Erik Pance scored the only goal of the first period as UTE took a 1-0 lead into the locker room. Things opened up in the second period, first Ákos Kiss set up Karol Csányi and later the young defenceman Ádám Garbacz made it 3-0. A Pance power play goal put the game out of reach for the defending champions, but DVTK got on the scoreboard when Nikandrosz Galanisz put one past the net. In the closing minutes of the game Jozef Mihalik and Tamás Gröschl scored to set the final at 6-1.
HSC-DAB 5-2
Csíkszereda was hoping to get their first win of the season, whereas DAB was hoping to get a couple places closer to a playoff spot. The home team started Marek Peksa in net and Breton Lindoff was defending the DAB goal. Kalvis Ozols gave the home fans something to cheer about early in the game when he scored a power play goal in the second minute. The second period started much like the first, with a HSC powerplay goal, this time Ziga Kuzman put the puck past Lindoff, minutes later Csíkszereda made it 3-0 on a second Ozols power play goal. At the midway point of the game Anton Berlov made it 4-0 which forced Lee Gilbert to switch Lindoff for Dávid Duschek in net. The move looked to pay off as Duschek went the rest of the period without letting in a goal. Dunaújváros finally got on the scoreboard when Brad Smith set up Philip Busbacher for the team's first goal. HSC managed to score on a two man advantage off the stick of Kirils Tambijevs and a late Zsolt Azari goal set the final at 5-2 as Csíkszereda picked up with their first win of the season.
AV19-DHK 2-3
Second place Debrecen travelled to Fehérvár for the first time this season in hopes have gaining ground on first place DVTK. Both teams have been dealing with some injuries, Dániel Szabó is still out with an injury, Attila Reiter and Balázs Varga were not available either, for the visitors Balázs Ladányi and Róbert Izsák did not dress and neither did Norbert Hári. Alex Scola was in net for the home team and Ádám Vay for the visitors. Debrecen got on the board first in the last minute of the first period when Péter Vincze put the puck past Scola. Chris Bodó tied it up but Vincze struck again to put Debrecen back up. Before the second period was out Mitch Holmberg scored a power play goal to make it 2-2. In the first minute of the third period Ákos Berta stepped up and scored the third Debrecen goal which happened to be the winner.
MAC-FTC 5-2
In his first game with Ferencváros, Dávid Horváth faced his former team MAC, missing from FTC was Márton Mach and Edgars Apelis, MAC had a full lineup. The home team sent young goalie Gergely Arany to defend the net, Fradi countered with the veteran Kriztián Budai in net. Ferencváros took the early lead when Arany was caught looking the wrong way and Gábor Kiss put the puck into the back of the net. The visitor lead didn't last long as MAC tied it up less than a minute later when Arnold Sillo fed the puck to Krisztián Nagy in the slot who finished the rest. MAC scored two quick goals, team captain Viktor Tokaji set up Michael Quinn who threw it on net from high in the slot to make it 2-1. Minutes later Nagy scored his second of the game on a back side rebound. In the final minute of the first period Fradi cut it to a one goal game when Márton Mach flipped in a rebound from the doorstep. In the second period Jimmy Jensen was tossed from the game after he tried to kick someone, on the ensuing five minute major István Terbócs was set up nicely for the power play goal to make it 4-2. In the third period Ferencváros was not able to get any closer despite pulling the goalie. In the end Nagy completed his hattrick with an empty net goal.
