MOL League: Good day for the visitors

Because of the national holiday the game scheduled for Friday the 23rd where moved up to Thursday.

UTE-MAC 1-7

In the Budapest derby MAC traveled across the river to Újpest in hopes of keeping pace with second place Debrecen, UTE was trying to jump Fehérvár for fourth place. The visitors started Bence Bálizs in net with József Pleszkán defending the UTE cage. MAC started the goal production early on the power play as Niko Saarenpaa took a feed from behind the net and put it past Pleszkán blocker side from the slot. Later in the period Krisztián Nagy took  an awkward shot from the right corner that had some backspin on it and bounced past the bemused UTE goalie. Saarenpaa struck again in the second period when he scored from the bottom of the faceoff circle, MAC really pulled away when István Terbócs skated in and snipped the puck five hole from the slot. As the teams headed for the final twenty minutes MAC kepted up the scoring. Jeff Hayes scored an award winning goal when he plucked the puck out of the aire on the back post and Dávid Szappanos converted a McDonald pass from  the slot. Attila Németh set up Szappanos for his second goal of the game. With less than five minutes left in the game Erik Pance put home a rebound to end the shut out that Bálizs was pitching.

DAB-DHK 2-3 OT

It was only on Monday that these two teams had met up with Dunaújváros upsetting Debrecen. After playing great recently Dávid Duschek got the day off and Breton Lindoff was in net for Dunaújváros, Ádám Vay started for Debrecen. Dunaújváros scored first when Mátyás Odnoga set up Péter Németh for the opening goal. Neither goalie let in a goal the rest of the first period and and after a scoreless second period the scoring picked up in the third. Bronson Kovács tied it up in the early part of the third, later in the period Dunaújváros had to switch goalies as Lindoff picked up an injury, Duschek came off the bench to go the rest of the way. With just under five minutes left in the game Danil Kaskov scored on the 5 on 3 power play to give the visitors their first lead of the game, Gergely Borbás scored an unassisted goal to send the game into overtime. In overtime Péter Hetényi sprung Vladislav Troshin who scored a shorthanded goal in OT to give Debrecen two points on the road.

FTC-AV19 3-5

Ferencváros started the veteran Kristián Budai in net with the visiting Fehérvár going with the Latvian international Janis Kalnins. Chris Bodó give the visitors the early lead in the game and Brance Orbán set up Bodó for his second goal of the game on the power play to double the Volán lead. By the midway point of the game Fehérvár had a three goal lead, this time Bodó set up Orbán for the goal. Ferencváros finally got on the scoreboard when Vladimir Dubek put one past Kalnis, but Fehérvár scored twice thirteen seconds part in the closing minutes of the second period to make it 5-1. Preston Shupe scored the first with Bodó and Orbán combining again for the second. At the start of the last period Ferencváros switched goalies and Oliver Ágoston played the last twenty minutes. The move looked to work but it was too late, as Ágoston shut the door on Volán, for FTC Jereme Tendler and Csaba Papp scored to set the final score.
