
Brasov-AV19 4-11
As expected Brasov again had just about their top two lines missing as they had a Romanian league game to play that day as well, getting the start in net was Szilárd Béres, Fehérvár was hoping to get back on the horse after a loss the night be before. Fehérvár had Devon Krogh back from suspension but the team was without Ádám Z. Hegyi, Gergely Korbuly and Attila Reiter, Alex Scola started in net. Fehérvár was already up 2-0 by the fourth minute on goals by Áron Reisz and Alex Grieve. Andrei Vasile scored his first MOL League goal to cut the Brasov deficit in half, but Volán scored twice more before the period was out when Ferenc Kocsis and Tihamér Becze found the back of the net. In the second period it looked like Fehérvár was going to pull away as Grieve scored his second goal of the game and Preston Shupe made it 6-1, however Brasov scored two equal strength goals to make it 6-3 when Vasile scored his second of the game and Norbert Fetes his first of the season. The third period opened up with two quick Volán goals as Kocsis and Mitch Holmberg scored to make it 8-3 with Vasile completing his hat trick to make it 8-4, that was the closest Brasov would get. Fehérvár scored three more times before the game was out on goals by Becze, Krisztián Szabó and Tamás Láday.
UTE-FTC 2-1
Another derby in Budapest but this one had playoff implications as win would help both teams. Újpest had Karol Csány and Tamás Gröschl back from injury but Ales Sila was still out and József Pleszkán got the start. Ferencváros had Olivér Ágoston in net with Linus Schellin out with an injury. The game was tied at 0-0 until there was under five minutes left in the period when Ákos Kiss threw a puck on net from the other side of the blue line that bounced over Ágoston’s stick for the goal. In the opening minutes of the second period Marko Luomala had a nice wrap around goal that he banked the puck off of Pleszkán. Later in the period Tamás Virág slalomed through the Fradi defense and nicely slipped the puck past Pleszkán. the scored stayed in the favor of UTE for the rest of the second and the third period as UTE won 2-1.
SC-DAB 2-1
After pulling out a win against Fehérvár the day before Csíkszereda was in another must win game, this time against Dunaújváros. The home team had a shorter bench with a number of the younger players and five imports playing in the Romanian league game that they also had. Ede Mihály was missing because of a suspension and Marek Peksa got the start in net. Dunaújváros had Dávid Duschek in net and Péter Németh was sitting out a suspension. Csíkszereda took a 1-0 lead on a power play goal by Kirils Tambijevs in the sixth minute, minutes later Aleksandr Dyadyushko made it 2-0. In the second period Dunaújváros got a goal back when René Léránt put one past Peksa. Neither team managed to score in the rest of the second period and the third as Csíkszereda held on for the 2-1 win.
