DVTK defended their Hungarian and MOL League titles from last season, one of the key contributors and also leading scorer in the playoffs was forward Jon Booras. He finished the playoffs with 7 goals and 12 assists for 19 points and because of this he was the MOL League playoffs MVP.

Jon Booras was nice enough to answer some questions the morning after winning the MOL League title.

What is it like to have helped your team win in your first season with them?

It feels great, we have such a great group of guys and a very talented team. We are all really close and it seems so long ago back in August we set our goal to win a championship and so much hard work went into it It feels great to win it with all these great guys especially with Jason Morgan and Jukka Kontsas, they do an unreal job as coaches and it's just really special.

This was your first playoffs in Europe how was this playoff season been different from what you experienced in the ECHL or the CHL?

A few things, last year and the years before we weren't the defending champs. This year we were and we got everyone's best game, we had really high expectations and years before we didn't. The atmosphere and media coverage was unreal and there's so much emotion in all of these games. We really do have the best fans and they do an unreal job supporting all of us and I never really experienced a fan base like we have!

What was the key to the four game sweep against MAC?

Honestly just pure determination to win! We have a very talented team but we all were hungry to win. Game 2 was a pivotal game obviously coming back and winning it the way we did I think we really deflated their team. I think also having more rest helped us and they had a tough 7 game series and then had to jump right into the finals with us!

Up next you have the Hungarian Cup Final 4, which is the last trophy you have to defend from last season, how will you guys prepare for this?

I think we're all going to celebrate this league championship for the next few days and just relax and enjoy this with everybody! Obviously defending it has always been a huge goal for us but we need a little break to celebrate and mentally refocus for the Hungarian cup. It's nice that we don't play until next weekend.

What secrets can you give away about next season, have you resigned for the 2016-17 season?

Honestly I have not sat down with management to talk about next season. I know they have plans for next season to try and get into the Slovak league but have not heard the final result on that. Obviously before I leave management and myself will have an exit meeting and talk about next season but right now just enjoying this moment with my team and coaches, you never know if this will happen again!
