MOL League Semifinals Preview

2015.02.17. 10:51 |

The MOL League semi finals start tonight with the top seeds advancing from the quarterfinals to face the top two teams in the league, so far there have not been any upsets in the playoffs, it would be a surprise if there would be any clean sweeps in either of the best of seven playoffs series.

Miskolc-Brasov

Except for a couple of smaller slip ups during the season Miskolc has been the top team in the season from start to finish, head coach Gergely Majoross has had only one goal all season and that has been to win the MOL League regular season title. Last season Brasov took a similar road to the finals as they made the playoffs as the last team and made it to the finals where they gave Nové Zámky a run for their money. Both teams are a lot stronger than last season with Miskolc taking the regular season series 4 games to 2 with three of them going to a shootout. Miskolc has the league's leading scorer in Keegan Dansereau as well as the leader in goals against in Bence Bálizs, Brasov’s top scorer is Martin Saluga

DAB.Docler-Nové Zámky

The defending champions have had an up and down season as they are on their third coach this season. Nové Zámky on paper have a strong team where as DAB.Docler are not the same team as they were last season but with good defending and great goaltending they have been at the top of the league all season, a loss in the semifinals would mean that this season was a failure. DAB.Docler won the first matchup of the season but Nové Zámky has won five in a row since then showing that they are able to play at the highest level when needed. Nové Zámky’s top scoring threats are Martin Frolik and Eric Weissmann, DAB.Docler counters with Dávid Szappanos and Zsolt Azari. Dunaújváros also has an outstanding goalie in Janis Kalnins who stopped 94% of the shots faced.
