MOL League: Visitors take the points

The MOL League week closed out with three games, two in Romania and one in Budapest which had the two newest members of the league going head the head.

Brasov-DVTK 2-6

After handing previously undefeated Debrecen their first loss of the season in a shoot out the night before the home team Brasov hopped to pick up three points against the defending champions. Rajmond Fülöp was in net for the home team, Bence Kiss started for Diósgyőr. DVTK broke the ice first when Nikandrosz Galanisz scored power play goal, in the second period  Jesse Dudas scored his third goal in two games to double the visitors lead. Diósgyőr really turned it up in the second half of the game when Balázs Somogyi scored and in the closing minute of the period  Adrián Tóth and Dudas scored twenty seconds apart. After 40 minutes Brasov’s coach Ottó Keresztes switched goalie Fülöp for Zoltán Tőke, switched worked at first as Dániel Tranca set up Mátyás Biró for the first Brasov goal. In the closing minutes both teams exchanged goals,  Somogyi scored his second of the night and Árpád Mihály  scored to set the final at 6-2.

DVTK Head coach Péter Mayer: It was a good game with many chances, we managed to score 6 times and I am very happy with the powerplay. The boys managed to dominate the game quite well. Brasov worked hard during the entire game, but they showed signs of tiredness after yesterday’s game. There is no such thing as an easy game in the MOL League and we are happy we are taking home all possible points

HSC-DHK 2-4

Debrecen played at Csíkszereda for the first time this season, new import goalie Marek Peksa started in net for the home team who was still without Kyle Heffernan. For the visitors Ádám Vay was in net who has played every minute of the season, as expected Ladányi and Izsák were missing from the Debrecen lineup. In the first period Áron Könczei scored first for the road team but minutes later but Róbert Mikéska evened it up for HSC. In the first minute of the second period Norbert Dancsfalvi made it 2-1 and ten minutes later Norbert Hári put one past Peksa. In the last twenty minutes Tamás Farkas made it a one goal game but Garrett Milan scored an empty net goal to close the door on the game.

MAC-AV19 2-4

In the late game Tuesday night the two “academy” teams faced off. Both teams had a full roster with Bence Bálizs in net for the home team and Janis Kalnins playing between the pipes after Alex Scola started the night before. It didn’t take long for Fehérvár to grab the lead as Devon Krogh scored a backhanded goal 37 seconds into the game, later in the period Viktor Tokaji set up Mike Quinn on the blueline who put the puck past Kalnins. The second goal of the night did not fall until the second half of the game when Ferenc Kocsis skated in and took a shot a that bounced off of Bálizs’ pads into the back of the net, minutes later Jeff Hayes did some work around the net that payed off as he tied up the game up. In the early part of the third period of the game when Krisztián Szabó set up Gergő Tóth for the power play goal. In the end MAC was not able to come back as Brance Orbán put an empty netter in to set the final.
