AV19-DAB 3-5
The last time these two teams played each other in Dunújváros DAB won, the home team was hoping to get revenge. The home team had a number of players back who were with the EBEL squad, Ferenc Kocsis, Krisztián Szabó, Péter Vincze and Péter Korbuly were back but they still had a number of defenders missing among them team captain Ádám Hegyi and Alex Scola was in net. On the visitors side they have also had a number of players missing for some time but Gergely Borbás and Bence Dörök were added to that list, Breton Lindoff started in net. The game did not start well for DAB as Imre Peterdi was called for tripping in the early minutes, Fehérvár took advantage of this when Vincze took a shot from high in the slot that Krisztián Szabó deflected down and Preston Shupe banged home the loose puck. Fehérvár was able to kill their first penalty but minutes later Shupe was called for a trip, this time DAB tied it up on a goal by Peterdi. Brad Smith made a nice cross ice pass down low to the far post where Peterdi was waiting and scooped it in past Scola. In the second period both teams had a number of chances in the second period but with less than two minutes left Shupe stole the puck from the DAB defender and centered a waist high puck that Mitch Holmberg snagged out of the air and poked it home. At the start of the third period it looked like Dunaújváros would be able keep up the home team. However in the 49th minute Máté Arany scored a power play goal that put Volán up by two. Krisztián Szabó made a pass to Roland Vokla on the blue line line who threw it on net and Arany redirected it. The home team really started to pull away on a goal by Áron Reisz, Holmberg had a tape to tape pass to Korbuly who centered it to Reisz. Fehérvár looked to put the game out of reach after a nice tic-tac-toe play to make it 5-1, the puck went from Vincze to Kocsis to Gergő Tóth who banged it home into the seemingly empty net. Just when it looked like Volán had the win, DAB scored two quick goals late in the period Zoltán Revák centered the puck back to Péter Németh who shot it past Scola and Mátyás Odnoga stuffed a rebound past the goal to make it 5-3. DAB pulled the goalie at the end but it was not enough.
Fehérvár AV19 head coach Tyler Dietrich: I thought we were slow at the start but we got better as the game went on there were sloppy parts which we will need to work on, considering the circumstances we are happy with the win.
