MOL League: Volán wins twice, DHK upsets DVTK

Brasov-FTC 3-4

For the first time in a long time Brasov was playing with a full bench and Zoltán Tőke in net. Ferencváros was without Máté Lévai, Zalán Fliszár and Attila Rafaj, with Olivér Ágoston in net. After a scoreless first period Fradi took a two goal lead when Linus Schellin and Marko Luomala scored in less that one minute. Minutes later Jereme Tendler made it 3-0 for Ferencváros, however Brasov also found the back of the net later in the period when Dennis Dumitru put one past Ágoston, Zsolt Molnár scored late in the period to cut it to a one goal game. In the third period Vladimir Dubek Fradi back up by two, but with just five minutes left in the game Mátyás Bíró scored to make it 4-3 however Brasov could not tie it up.

UTE-AV19  2-3 SO

This was the game that was suspended because of Devon Krogh’s horrific injury. The remaining time in over time was played with the players who dressed for that game. Tonight no goals were scored in overtime and the game went to a shootout where all three Volán shooters, put the puck past Ales Sila for the win.

UTE-AV19 2-4

Minutes after the overtime and the shootout the two teams faced off for the originally scheduled game. Fehérvár was missing Tamás Láday who was sitting out a suspension, Bence Szabó and Dániel Mazzag were out however Attila Reiter was back after missing some time and Janis Kalnins was in net. After a scoreless first period UTE managed to catch the Volán on a line change and Krisztián Dosa set up Péter Gágyor for the goal on the two on one. Later during the middle 20 minutes, Mitch Holmberg shot a puck off the post that hit Sila in the back and went in, not much later Alex Grieve sent a rocket from the top of the right faceoff circle into the back of the net. In the third period things got somewhat chippy as Brance Orbán and Peter Huba locked horns, both players ended up getting tossed from the game. Later in the period Mitch Holmberg scored a power play goal from the left faceoff circle. UTE came back within one goal when Karol Csányi put a rebound in off of a long shot from the blueline. With five minutes left Preston Shupe scored to give Fehérvár the one goal lead that they would end up holding on to.


DAB-MAC 1-4

The home team was playing with a full roster and Dávid Duschek in net, on the other side MAC was missing Drew Olson and Desző Roczanov because of the suspentions and Gergely Arany was in net. MAC Budapest jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead in the opening minutes on goals by Ian McDonald and Attila Németh. In the second period right at the midway point of the game McDonald and Saarenpaa scored twice in under a minute, but before the period was out Garrett Milan scored what ended up being the only DAB goal of the game as the score remained the same for the rest of the game.

DVTK-DHK 1-2

After the big win at the end of the previous match week Diógyőr was back on the ice against Debrecen. The defending champions were without Tihamér Győrfi, Ákos Laczkó, Balázs Láda, Levente Szilágyi, Adrián Tóth and Jon Booras with Bence Kiss getting the start. Martin Saluga, Danil Kaskov, Vladislav Troshin and Kasper Emanuelsson were out for Debrecen and Ádám Vay was in net. Áron Könczei set up Norbert Hári for a short handed goal that made it 1-0 for Debrecen, later in the period Dániel Godó doubled the lead for the home team. At this time Diósgyőr switched goalies sending in Attila Adorján for Kiss. For the start of the second period Kiss came back into the net. Keegan Dansereau scored for Diósgyőr in the second period to make it a one goal game. The score remained the same for the rest of the game as Debrecen pulled off the upset.
