MOL League: Week 3 Preview

MAC Budapest and Debrecen are the early front runners with defending champions DVTK Jegesmedél only one point off, with the surprise team Ferencváros rounding out the top four.

The third week of the season starts off with the first Budapest derby as Ferencváros travels across town to take on Újpest who will still be without Teemu Elomo.

MAC Budapest has an easier week from the travel standpoint compared to last weekend, on Friday they take on Dunaújváros who only has two points but look like a tough team to play, on Sunday they will have a Budapest derby at Újpest and they will close out the week against Fehérvár at home in a game that should be exciting with both teams play at least two lines worth of young talent. Fehérvár hopes to have Richárd Reiter and Dániel Szabó, but the team might be tired since the night before they will be facing Dunaújváros

Undefeated Debrecen and third place Diósgyőr travel across the border to Romania as both teams will be making their first Transylvanian road trip of the season. On paper both teams look like the stronger team compared to either HSC Csíkszereda or Brasov, but both teams are hard to beat at home especially HSC. Debrecen has a short bench this season and have been without Balázs Ladányi and Róbert Izsak for the season, it will be interesting which 6 out of their 10 imports they play on the road trip. DVTK has only one injury which starting goalie, Mark Guggenberger who looks to be out of the lineup for a bit longer. The team has had some solid goaltending from the teenage duo of Attila Adorján and Bence Kiss. HSC Csíkszereda will have Róbert Mikéska back from suspension, however the injury bug has bit the team as they wil be without Szabolcs Papp, Róbert Péter, Kyle Heffernan, Ede Mihály and Zoltán Molnár. However the team has signed two new imports goalie Marek Peksa and D-man Ziga Kuzman.
