The MOL League season hits the quarter mark this weekend and no way is there a clear picture in how the season will finish up. There were a couple of mid week upsets but Diósgyőr and Debrecen are tied at the top of the table with a six point lead over third place MAC. Brasov and Csíkszereda who are tied for last are only three points out of the playoffs.
DVTK starts the week off with a visit to Dunaújváros where the last time they played they lost 3-2 on overtime. The PolarBears announced this past week that they have parted ways with goalie Mark Guggenberger, the defending champions will continue on as they have with the pair of teenagers Attila Adorján and Bence Kiss defending the net. DVTK will host third place MAC and finish out the week at Ferencváros, when the last time the two teams met in Miskolc the home team put a pretty bad beating of the Budapest team, look for FTC to play a physical game. For Dunaújváros the week does not get much easier after playing the top team in the league, they follow it up by hosting the other league leader DHK who is still going strong despite a short bench, and close out the week against MAC Budapest on the road. Despite sitting at the bottom of the standings DAB is not an easy team to beat.
Fehérvár has been through an emotional roller coaster this past week, Tyler Dietrich had a patchwork lineup on the back side, but managed to play well. On Tuesday they took on UTE, with the game in overtime Devon Krogh suffered a serious injury and the game was suspended with the team not knowing what condition their team mates was in. Luckley for some quick reaction by a number of people of the ice Krogh is fine and will be working to get back on the ice. The last two minutes of overtime still needs to be played, which might happen when Fehérvár hosts UTE on Tuesday. First however Volán still has a big matchup against Debrecen, a team they have yet to beat this season.
Two Budapest clubs, Újpest and Ferencváros will be making their first Transylvanian road trip of the season, UTE will face Brasov and FTC will be in Csíkszereda on Friday with the teams switching places on Saturday. There has been some roster changes for Csíkszereda as Oleg Blagoy has left the team, the club looks to bring in a new import to replace him. Kirils Tambijevs looks to have been the spark that the team was missing as he was named player of the week in the MOL League this past week.
