With DAB.Docler and Brasov taking part in the Continental Cup there were only three matches this past week in the MOL League.
Újpest has had trouble this season putting complete games together with their top line carrying the team in their first ten games. On friday they traveled north the of the border to Nové Zámky Slovakia and played complete game scoring the opening goal and holding a 3-2 lead for a long time until the defending champions came back to take a 4-3 lead. However, UTE was able to send the game to overtime when Martin Turbucz scored with 13 seconds left in regulation. The home team ended up winning in a shootout with Juraj Faith scoring the winner.
Ferencváros was desparate for a win just to keep pace with their big rival UTE since they are sitting at the sixth and final playoff spot as well for team moral. Anyone in the Fradi locker room would have told you before the game is that it was not going to be an easy game against Miskolc. Krisztián Budai stood tall for Ferencváros in the 2-1 as special teams had a large part in the win with the home team scoring a power play goal and a shorthanded goal in the win.
The two Budapest rivals UTE and FTC faced off against each other for the third time this season with both teams picking up points earlier in the week. After a scoreless first period it was all Újpest for the next 40 minutes as UTE went up 4-0 lead by two Jussi Tapio goals, with just under two minutes left in the game Gábor Kis spoiled the shutout that Jozsef Pleszkán was building.
