MOL League: Week 7 Preview

2015.10.22. 08:00 |

The standings are slowly starting to take shape as Disógyőr has opened up an eight point lead over second place Debrecen. Also during the week Brasov announced that they will be concentrating on the Romanian league from  here on out. It would be worthy to note for MOL League fans that because of the national holiday Friday’s games have been moved up to Thursday and DVTK is competing in the Continental Cup this weekend.

Debrecen has a two point lead over third place MAC and need to pick up some points if they want to put some space between them. DHK will be back in Dunaújváros three days after they were upset 4-2. On top of that they had picked up two injuries as Mikhail Ustyantsev broke his leg and Artyom Vaszjunyin also left the game with an injury, this is all on top of who they have had out already. Neither Dunaújváros or HSC Csíkszereda will be an easy team to face this week as they both have healthy rosters. DAB also face HSC Csíkszereda on home ice before closing out the week with UTE. They are sitting two points out of the final playoff spot behind Ferencváros, the SteelBulls are not a team to take lightly and have pulled off some great results on home ice. Csíkszereda will start their Hungarian road trip in Budapest as they go against MAC. Csíkszerda has picked up some lethal imports and have been rotating a number of them in the eight import spots they are allowed to use this season.

MAC Budapest will start the week off at Újpest before having a Transylvanian flavor to the week, after HSC Csíkszereda they will be going against Corona Brasov. MAC will be without Arnold Silló for the long run who broke his ankle however Tamás Pozsgai will be back in the lineup. Brasov is facing a grueling road trip as the management has decided to bring junior players for their visit to Budapest. All three teams they will be facing, Ferencváros, Újpest and MAC are in playoff spots.

As the EBEL team in Fehérvár is getting back their injured players, more and more of the young guys are coming back down to the MOL squad who is also getting injured players back. As of right now the team is only without defensemen Arany, Korbuly and Krogh. Fehérvár has had the luxury of having two great goalies who can split the starts between themselves. Volán will have the chance to get to know Ferencváros very well as they will be playing a “home and home” series against them first in Budapest and the second game down in Fehérvár. FTC will probably be a bit tired for the second leg of the series as they will still face Brasov between the two Volán games. Fradi hopes to still be holding onto the final playoff spot at the weeks end. This past week they picked up Jereme Tendler who has been a boost to the goal production.
