MOL League: Week 8 Review

On Tuesday Miskolc traveled to Slovakia to take on Nové Zámky, at game time the two teams were tied on points for second place and five behind first place Dunaújváros. After the first two periods of hockey the home team had a one goal lead when things got crazy. In the early part of the third period Erik Caladi scored his third goal of the game to give Nové Zámky 5-2 lead and seemingly the game when Miskolc ran off three unanswered goals to send the game into overtime with Keegan Dansereau scoring the winner in OT.

Wednesday night Újpest traveled south on the Danube to take on first place DAB.Docler, last season this game would probably would have been considered a walk over for Dunaújváros. The much improved Újpest picked up some reinforcements during the international break as Dániel Kiss has joined Újpest from Fehérvár and Victor Lindgren is back in the MOL League after starting the year in Norway. Midway through the third period the visiting UTE side held a 3-2 lead but it slipped away as DAB took advantage of a power play to even it up at three Dávid Szappanos scored the game winner, Viktor Papp registering the empty netter at the end.

DAB.Docler has opened up a six point lead on second place Miskolc with last place Csíkszereda five points out of the last playoff spot.
