The MOL League standings are starting to look somewhat clearer as DAB.Docler has a six point gap over second place Miskolc and a five point gap between number five Brasov and number six Újpest. UTE is still being carried pretty much by their top line.
Dunaújváros started the weekend with a game that started out like it would be a walk in the part but ended up closer than they would have liked as DAB pulled out to a 5-1 before UTE cut the deficit to two but in the end an empty net goal gave the visitors the comfortable win.
Debrecen took care of business this week as they beat up on not only the teams behind them but also upset defending champions Nové Zámky. DHK started the weekend with a 7-2 win over Csíkszereda with all seven goals being scored by different players, which was followed up with 6-2 win over Ferencváros two days later. The big surprise came Monday night with a 6-2 at home over visiting NZ which left the opponent's coach speechless.
The weekend not only ended bad for Nové Zámky and the new week did not start well either as they lost points to Brasov at home in a shootout. The coaching change has been great for Brasov since they followed up game against NZ with a shootout win at Miskolc and a 4-3 win at UTE. Any coach will take six points on a three game road trip where they play two teams ahead of them in the standings.
Miskolc started the weekend well but as the weekend progressed things went downhill. They had a solid 4-1 win at Ferencváros lead by the two goals by Adrián Tóth, after the loss to Brasov Miskolc could not keep pace with Dunaújváros in the game of the week as the home team had a 3-1 lead going into the third period in the 4-1 loss.
Csíkszereda had a 3-0 lead at Ferencváros what looked to be their first regulation win of the season but FTC scored a goal that should not have been given and that’s when the controversies started to pile up during the game in which Fradi was able to come back from being down by three goals and won it in overtimes on a goal by Gábor Kiss who had a hat trick.
Quote of the week
“Its always great to pick up three points on the road,” Jerry Andresson, coach of Brasov after their 4-3 win over Újpest.
