After a slow start to the season Miskolc decided to replace head coach Travis Young with interim coach Péter Mayer. The Polar Bears immediately started looking for a replacement as well as making the slow ascension up the standings.

The club has found their new coach in an old familiar face, Bob Dever. Dever was the head coach for the Polar Bears during the 2010-2011 campaign where the club finished in third place during the regular season and then were knocked out of the playoffs in the semi-final round. He was also the head coach for the U20 Hungarian national team.

Bob Dever's first experience in Hungary was during the 2008-2009 season where he was the head coach for the U18 team for the Budapest Stars as well as assistant coach for the U18 Hungarian National team.

The following season the Stars promoted him to assistant coach to Glenn Williamson along with his duties as head coach of the U18 side when the team won the MOL League. Dever was also promoted within the Hungarian Ice Hockey federation as he was the top guy for both the U18 and U20 national teams.

It will be interesting to see how the team will perform under the new coach.
