
The Hungarian National Ice Hockey team is back in the László Papp Budapest Sports Arena for Olympic Qualification Tournament from February 11th through the 14th, 2016.
This past spring the Hungarian Ice Hockey team won promotion to the A-Pool, before they take on the elite ice hockey nations in the 2016 world championships they have another challenge in front of them and that is the Olympic Qualication Tournament this February in the László Papp Budapest Sports arena between the 11th and the 14th.
After successfully hosting the 2013 World Championships and the preparation games for the 2014 World Championships in 2016 the Budapest Sports Arena is playing host to the national team once again which now among the top 16 teams in the world.
In February the national team faces a new challenge, qualifying for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang South Korea.
On Thursday the 11th Hungary will be facing Lithuania, the last time the two teams faced off was during the previous Olympics qualifying, which Hungary won in Budapest. On Friday Estonia, who qualified this past Fall from the previous round, and who Hungary has not played since 2008 Sapporo World Championships. Following a day off on Sunday, Hungary will be back on the ice on Sunday against Poland who is only three spots behind Hungary in the world rankings and who they had to defeat this past spring in their fight for promotion to the A-Pool. The winner of this group advances to the final qualifying round.
This Olympic Qualifying tournament is the first time since the 2015 World Championships in Krakow that Hungary will be playing in front of a home crowd and also the last time before they start their preparation for the 2016 World Championships in Russia.
Tickets can be bought on a discounted price for the tournament up until December 31st which would include entry to both games on all three days, in total six matches. You can save thousands of forints you purchase early and it is a great Christmas gift as well.
Starting January 1st ticket prices will go up and match day tickets will also be available as well.
