At this year's Hungarian Inline championships a number of members of the ice hockey Men’s national team participated, heros from Sapporo and Krakow as well as A-Pool world championships all stepped on the court. István Bartalis and Imre Peterdi faced off against each other in the finals.
Győr made an epic comeback to win the title in overtime, we asked István Bartalis what was the key to the come from behind win.

“We had great chemistry within the team, everyone fought for each other, our opponent got tired towards the end, I can’t say we were a 100% either. When we needed it, our goalie played great and made key saves and up front we scored on our chances.”
István Bartalis just finished up a rather exciting season and he scored a number of big time goals. He scored an overtime goal in the MOL League semi finals, and scored a rocket against Canada, we asked him where does the hat trick in the inline finals compare to these.
“This was also a game and it was got the Hungarian title, which we wanted to win. In inline hockey technical skills are emphasized more, which I really like and it's great for offseason cross training. In the end this is a completely different sport so I would place this in a separate category from what I accomplished in ice hockey.”
In the finals on the other side Imre Peterdi had pulled on the Marczi Skate jersey, which most hockey fans were happy to see that “Pedro” was healthy. It wasn't even four months ago that the 185 time capped national team played had suffered a stroke. He did play carefully but he still managed to score in the second minute of play in the finals and would also give his team a one goal lead late in the game.
“I had to be cautious, since this was the first time I had played since I got sick. I was on the bench for most of the semi finals, but I thought I would give it a try in the finals I felt great but you could see I was a bit rusty.”
“I had heart surgery and after, the doctors told me that I could get back to playing top flight sports, but an event like this is a big deal in a person's life, I decided that it was time to hang up the skates. I will start coaching for Vasas in August but I think inline can still be a part of my life. This year there will only be a six nations tournament where I will be on the coaching staff. I know everyone is worried about me and what might happen, the doctor said I can be active and play sports. I run 4km each day and I do some TRX as well. I am slowly building my strength back up, but I know I do not have any major goals.
