2015.11.12. 10:37 |

Because of the international break this past MOL League match week was an abbreviated one that only had two games. Diósgyőr blew a four goal lead against Debrecen to win by one, Fehérvár won a close game against UTE, a game in which Devon Krogh was back on the ice for the first time since his horrific injury, Krogh scored the game winner as a defenseman because of this his is this week's Player of the Week.

The Player of the Week is an MVP award that is awarded to the player that was the most valuable to their team on the past MOL League match week. Devon Krogh scored a goal as a defenseman to put his team up 3-2 in the third period, but more importantly he gave his team a morale boost after being back in action just 28 days after his injury.

Devon Krogh comes from Vancouver, Canada just like his coach Tyler Dietrich, he played his junior hockey with the Penticton Vees of the BCHL where he happened to be teammates with former Fehérvár defenceman Michael Boivin and current Debrecen forward Garrett Milan. He would go on to play for Ohio State University where he was teammates with current NHL defenseman Matt Bartkowski. After graduating from college he spent two season in the ECHL, where he played with current DAB forward Phil Bushbacher, before making the jump to Hungary for his first season in Europe. Devon took time out of his busy schedule to answer some questions for icehockey.hu

How did you feel being back on the ice against UTE on Tuesday?

It was a little surreal, at the time of the injury I wasn't really thinking much about hockey, more about how to stay healthy. I certainly didn't think I would be on the ice this quickly, it's a testament to the doctors I had, they did a great job.

What is your opinion about the MOL League?

It is a good league with a lot of talent and every game is close which shows there is depth to the league.

What was the reason that you signed with Fehérvár?

Tyler Dietrich was probably the main reason I signed with the team. As a player you always want to go somewhere you are wanted, and I got the feeling from talking to him that this would be the best fit for me.

What is the atmosphere like around the team and in the locker room?

It's a great group of guys, all the Hungarians have been great to the imports. I can't speak highly enough of them, we have a really good locker room and everyone gets along very well. The only thing we battle over is control of the stereo, I don't think country music is very popular here. (I'm joking around).

How do you like living in the town of Fehérvár and in Hungary?

I didn't really know what to expect when I got here, but I have been pleasantly surprised. Fehérvár is a great town and the people are very nice and helpful even though I can't speak Hungarian. This is my first year in Europe and I'm really happy I came here because it made the transition easier for me. Our fans are great and the organization as a whole has been really good to me. I have had a really good time here so far.
