Player of the Week:Erik Caladi

2014.11.14. 09:22 |

This week’s player of the week was Nové Zámky’s right winger Erik Caladi. Because of the short week there was only two games and therefor many worthy, despite losing to Miskolc 6-5 in a overtime Caladi registered a hat trick.

Caladi throughout his career has been a reliable forward that has been loyal and a constant presence that his teammates and coaches have always been able to rely on. He started his career in his hometown team Nyitra where we also turned pro. Aside from a couple of times he was loaned out to lower level teams he has only played for Nyitra in the Slovak first division. He has been playing down the road from Nyitra in Nové Zámky for the past three seasons in the MOL League.

Caladi is the first player form Nové Zámky to win the Player of the Week award this season.

How can you compare the MOL League and the Slovak 3rd division, two competitions that HC Nové Zámky is competing in?

There is a big difference between the two leagues, sometimes its hard  to jump from one to the other since the MOL League is so much faster and harder. I hope that we will be able to compete throughout the season for the title in both leagues.

Nové Zámky has recently had a coaching change with slavomir Chlebeccel as the new coach, what is the new coach like and how has the atmosphere been like?

Our practices have changed, the new coach puts an emphasis on conditioning and preparation,  which I hope will be able to help us compete in both leagues.

During the international break no one on the roster was called up to a national team, how did the team spend the break, what did the team work on?

We were concentrating on improving our physical fitness, we actually spent a lot of time in the swimming pool and doing some cross training. We did not have that much time to rest as the Slovak 3rd division schedule kept on going.

Last season HC Nové Zámky won the MOL League trophy, what does the team have to improve upon to have a repeat performance this year?

I don’t know if we need to change anything or not, if we are playing well the wins will come and that means we have a team that can repeat.
