Player of the Week: Jeff Hayes

2015.09.23. 11:08 |

MAC Budapest came back from their first Transylvanian road trip of the season with six points in the bag and scored a total of thirteen goals in two games on back to back nights. The leader of this prolific offense had a total of five goals in two games, four of which came against HSC Csíkszereda and because of this Jeff Hayes is this week’s Player of the Week.

Jeff Hayes comes from Ottawa Canada and is in his first season of pro hockey after playing his junior seasons in the OHL and his college years at Carleton University. In the OHL he played for the Guelph Storm and the Oshawa Generals where he counted future NHL stars Drew Doughty, Ryan Callahan, Michal Neuvirth, John Tavares and Michael Del Zotto among his teammates. Hayes took time out of his day to answer some questions for icehockey.hu

What was the biggest reason for your five goals in a two game span?

I think the biggest reason was because my line with Tomas Klempa and Ian McDonald has had some time practicing and playing together, we are starting to get some good chemistry together and knowing how each other plays. I just happened to be in the right spots at the right time.

Have ever had back to back games like this in your career?

I have had back to back games with goals but never this many.

What was the biggest reason that you signed with MAC Budapest?

I wanted to come and play in Europe after I was done with university. My agent had told me about MAC Budapest and said they were putting together a really good team, so I was pretty excited to sign and come here and hopefully have a successful year.

What are your first impressions about the MOL League?

My first impressions so far have been really good, the level of play here is high and there are a lot of great players in the league. The fans have been awesome as well.

How have you liked Budapest so far?

The city is beautiful and the people are really nice. There always seems to be something going on, so it has been fun to experience everything so far.
