For the second time this season Diósgyőr was defeated on the ice during regulation when they lost to Csíkszereda. Earlier in the match week the Transylvanian club defeated Ferencváros in a high scoring game and picking up six out of six points With his hat trick against Fradi and being involved in all three Sport Club goals against Diósgyőr, Kirils Tambijeves was voted this week's Player of the Week for the second time this season.
Last season it happened once and so far this season it has happened once that a player has won the Player of the Week title more than once during this season. Kirils Tambijevs has accomplished what Dávid Szappanos did last season. The young forward has had a great season since joining Csíkszereda after the start of the season he has caught up to the league leaders as he is third in points per game as well as third in power play goals, not to mention that he is the leading scorer for SC Csíkszereda. Kirils took time during this holiday season to answer some questions.
What is the atmosphere like around the locker room after the team picked up six out of six points?
Of course the guys are all very happy, last week was a good one for us. We won the Romanian Cup and then these last two games in the MOL League.
You had five goals and one assist in the two games what does this mean?
It does not matter what I did, the most important thing is that the team won. We work real hard together as a team and this is the result.
What was the key to the upset win over Diósgyőri VTK?
I don’t know, we prepared for that game the same way we do for every other game in the MOL League, with a 100%.
What can we expect from SC Csíkszereda for the rest of the season?
We will work hard to win as many games as possible and also I would also like to thank our fans for the great support we have had. It is very important for us, the home games have had an unbelievable atmosphere all season.
Back home in Latvia what is something traditional that you would do this time of the year for the holidays?
I don’t really do anything special, usually I will meet with my parents, friends and girlfriend, l try to relax a little bit and celebrate the new year.
