Player of the Week: Roland Hajós

2014.11.20. 15:47 |

After picking up two wins this past week, a hard fought shootout win against Brasov and an easy 6-0 win against Újpest Miskolc is sitting in second place. One of the key players who stepped up when the team needed him was Roland Hajós. He scored both of Miskolc’s goals in the Brasov game and helped out with a goal and two assist against Újpest and this is why he is this weeks player of the week.

Roland originally came up through Alba Volán’s youth system before spending a season in Miskolc on loan during the 2009-10 season. He would spend the next three season back in Fehérvár in the MOL League as well as 41 games in the EBEL before making the permanent move back to Miskolc. Last year he had 37 points in 47 games and is off to a similar clip this season as he as 15 points in 18 games.

For you personally what was the close game against Brasov and the easy win against Újpest like?

We had a number of scoring opportunities against Brasov, I myself had a couple aside from the two goals I felt somewhat disappointed that I could only score on the two chances and we could have won the game in regulation, but either way we picked up two points. Against Újpest aside from wanting to win the game I wanted to score a goal in honor of Attila Rajz, who held me a lot when I was playing on Alba Volán’s farm team. We were able to win and I scored a goal, in the end we had an easy win.

What is the atmosphere like around the team, after a great start you hit a bit of a slump but since then the team has been strongly holding on to second place?

We had a two-three game series where we played too comfortable and because of this we weren't scoring the amount of goals that we usually do. We need to pay attention and concentrate on this not to happen again. Luckily we have a coach who does not let these kind of things happen.

You were at the national team training camp, what was that like?

Yes I was at the training camp, unfortunately I did not play well enough as I would have liked and I was disappointed. I hope that if I do get called up in the future everything will end up better.
