With both quarterfinals series going to the max length of three games each there was plenty of opportunities for players to step up and lead their teams to the semi finals. There was a number of players who played great when the games were close but one that stuck out with his three goals and three assist was Martin Saluga and thats why he is the quarter finals MVP.

“This is a great honor for me but this award is not just for me but for my teammates as well, everyone played great against Debrecen” said Martin

Where is the team mentally compared to last years playoff run?

After the loss in the first game in Debrecen we all knew that game two was a must win game on home ice if we wanted to advance. Now that we have advanced there is a great atmosphere in the locker room and we are ready to take on Miskolc.

What will the team need to work on to get past Miskolc in the semi finals?

Miskolc won the regular season, they scored the most goals and let in the least, however playoff games are different. If we play as a team, do not take penalties, play within the system and full of heart then it will be really hard to beat us.

What has been the biggest difference between last season and this season for you personally on the ice?

I didn’t see that many differences between this year and last year, however it was plus to have Debrecen in the league, it was a nice surprise. They were a tough team that we did not like to face at their own rink. Some teams were stronger than in the past others were a bit weaker.

How much has the league changed since you first played in the league?

There has been tremendous change in the league, it is great to see that Miskolc has gone from the bottom of the league to one of the best teams. Brasov surprised people last season, with the packed stands and the cheering fans it proves that this is quality hockey and the league is headed in the right direction. Dunaújváros has always been a strong team and additions of Nové Zámky and Debrecen have been great as well.
