
The 2016 Hungarian Cup groups stage was cut short because of a leak in the roof. With only two games left in the group stage water started to leak in through the roof of the building.
The groups stage of the 2016 Hungarian Cup was held in Újpest where Rokko was hoping to take the first steps of defending their Hungarian Inline title. The final game between Maczi Skate and Dana ETO Györ was agreed that offcial it would be a tie as neither team could play at a later date, Rokko and Pesterzsébet would be played at a later time.The top four teams would advance to the single elimination round, that will be played on Sunday June 26th.
What was known already when the games were called was that Pesterszébet would finish in fifth place and not advance to the knockout stage, and MAC would be fourth and Győr would finish at the top of the standings. Rokko and Marczi could both finish in either second or third place.
There were a few players from the Hungarian national Ice Hockey team as well, “There were some great games, with good teams being played. We as a team had a great time and picked up three wins with some strong play” said István Bartalis, forward for győr.
