Scouting Report: Denmark

After their opening 4-0 loss to host team Norway, Hungary will be facing another A-Pool team, arguably the strongest one of the tournament in Denmark.

Denmark have 16 players back from last year’s world championships in the Czech Republic.

Interestingly they only traveled with two goalies, George Sorensen has one international game on his resume, the other goalie could be familiar to EBEL fans as Sebastian Dahm plays for the Graz 99ers.

The defensively they look somewhat inexperienced but they still have veteran leadership in Daniel Nielsen. Their best player on the blueline is probably former Philadelphia Flyer defenseman Oliver Lauridsen.

Scoring probably will not be a problem for the team as they have a nice mix of former NHL draft picks, players playing in the top leagues and Europe and  couple of young up and coming players. At last years world championships Morten Madsen was the team’s leading scorer. Thomas Spelling and Kiril Starkov are both former NHL draft picks and Morten Green being a stable veteran presence.
