Scouting report on Poland

2014.11.08. 15:42 |

After the game against Korea the Hungarian national team will be going up against Poland. The Polish national team has improved a lot over the past few years after having Russian coaches being in charge. Poland have named Jacek Plachta, long time Polish assistant as the new head coach.

Poland is also in the same division as Hungary and the city of Krakow will be the host of the 2015 Division 1A world championships.

For the fifth year in a row the Polish national team will be backstopped by the goaltending duo of Przemyslaw Odrobny and Kamil Kosowski. Both goalies are in their late twenties and arguably could be the strength of this roster. A late addition to the roster has been Ondrej Raszka a young Czech goalie who is in the process of getting his citizenship and has been playing in Poland for a couple of years.

Poland has seven out of the eight defencemen that they had at the world championships in Budapest. Mateusz Rompkowski, Rafal Dutka, and Bartosz Dobrowski are the three veterans that will be leading the defensive unit. Most of the players are very similar in that they are experienced in playing in the Polish league.

At the forward position nine forwards will be back from last years world championship roster, led by Leszek Laszkewicz and Adam Baginski who last year at this tournament had a bit if a tussle with Csaba Kovács. The Polish forward unit much like the defencemen play in Poland and are pretty familier with each other. One young face to keep an eye on is the 19 year old Patryk Wronka
