Scouting Report: U20 France

2014.12.14. 22:32 |

The French team lost their opening game 3-2 in a shootout to Japan so they will be driving hard to pick up a win so that they can keep pace with Kazakhstan, the only team to have three points.

The French squad is coached by long time youth coach Lionel Charrier, he has been involved with this generations growth much like Glen Williamson with the Hungarian national program.

Victor Goy looks to be the number one keeper as he has played two games in the French first division this season and started the game against Japan. However a lot of times coaches alternate between their two goalies, Raphael Garnier is the other young netminder on the team.

The defensive unit of the French team looks to be experienced as a handful of them have debut in the French first division and some in the senior national team. Fabien Bourgeois and Pierre Crinon have played in the senior team, Crinon is spending this season in the NAHL in the U.S.

Like the defensmen the forwards also have a group of skaters who have debuted in the senior team but interestingly enough there are a handful who also play junior hockey in North America. The French will be expecting the goals to come from Maurin Bouvet who plays in the NAHL, Floran Douy who plays in Switzerland and has debuted in the senior team, and Fabien Kazarine. Guillaume LeClerc is playing in the USHL this season and has committed to go to school at UMass-Lowell for next season.
