After having an outstanding season in the Mestis with Kajaanin Hokki, Balázs Sebők has signed with Liiga side KalPa.

Sebők had 40 point in 47 games last season in the Finnish second division while on loan from Karpat. After the season the management with Karpat had informed Sebők that did not plan on him being a key member of the team in the near future. This set the events in motion in which Sebők and his manager started to look around for the best options for him.

“I had great years in Karpat, I can only thank the whole organization, because I wouldn't be here right now without them.” said Sebők, who has been in Finland since the age of fourteen. “They had a way of putting the team together, and that didn't include me for the two years, so I felt the need to change and try myself somewhere else, which luckily came through since I've managed to sign with KalPa.”

KalPa and the top league in Finland could catapult Sebők’s career to playing in one of the top three league in the world, but for now is concentrating on helping out his new team the best as he can.

I feel very lucky and happy to be here with KalPa, hopefully I can deliver and play as they expect me to play this game.”

KalPa was founded in 1929 and has a rich hockey tradition, it is a founding member of the Champions Hockey League and is known for playing more of an old Swedish style of hockey with a lot of passing.

Recently János Hári and Zoltán Hetényi spent time in the Liiga, Hári in 2013-14 with HIFK and Hetényi was in Tappara in 2013-14 and in Jokerit during the 2011-12 season.
