Except for Brasov all the other eight teams in the MOL League have opened up the season. Sunday night had another slate of exciting games.

DVTK-AV19 6-5 SO

Fehérvár traveled to Miskolc for the first time this season to take on DVTK, Mark Guggenberger and Janis Kalnins were the two starting keepers. Balázs Somogyi scored the only goal of the first period but things opened up in the second twenty minutes.Preston Shupe and Mitch Holmberg gave the visitors the lead but a brace by Keegan Dansereau gave DVTK the lead back at the end of 40 minutes. Shupe’s two goals completed a hat trick in the third period with the last one coming in the closing seconds with the goalie pulled and send the game into overtime. After a scoreless OT period Jon Booras won it for the home team in a shootout.

Péter Mayer: It was an incredible game, the last two minutes were hard to get over but the team played hard and we were able to win, these points were very important for us.

UTE-HSC 3-2 SO

Csíkszereda played their second game of their Hungarian road trip, the Transylvanian club took a 2-0 lead into the last period but a goal by Jozef Mihalik and Karol Csányi tied it up late in the game. The game was tied up after regulation and after a scoreless OT the game went to a shootout that Csányi ended up deciding for the home team. Ales Sila was the winning goalie with Gellért Ruczuj defending the other net.

Zoltán Szilassy: We are really missing Elomo but we still managed to have more shots on net but we kept on hitting the goalie. We had troubled passing in our end and therefore we couldnt bring out the puck. The goals that was scored against us did not break us, for the league itself I’m glad that Csíkszereda has a good team.

DAB-FTC 3-5

Ferencváros travelled south to take on the new Dunaújváros who was hitting the ice for the first time this season. Oliver Ágoston got his first start of the season with Dávid Duschek for Lee Gilbert’s squad. Juha Hietamaki scored a powerplay goal late in the first period with Csaba Papp and Illés Galló scoring 10 seconds apart in the closing minutes of the game. After the first period Duschek was pulled in favor of Brett Lindoff. Veterans IMre Peterdi and Zsolt Azari cut the game to one goal with Brad Smith tieing it up. In the end that was all that Dunaújváros had as Edgar Apelis put Fradi up by one and Attila Rafaj had an empty netter at the end.

Greg LindqvistWe played great in the first period but they came back in the second period, but we were able to play our game in the third period. We had too many penalties in the game.
