The 2016-2017 Women’s national team season will kick off this Thursday with strength testing which will be followed by a three day training camp and a game in Austria.

The planned Russia tournament has been cancelled because of organizational issues, instead Hungary will be travelling to Kapfenberg on August 8th to face the Austrian national team. A total of 43 players were called into the national team camp however Kiss-Simon, Medgyes, Pártos, Tóth, Dabasi, Egyedi, Gowie, Puskás Poltzer and Zsófia Jókai-Szilágyi will not be in attendance because of their commitment to their club.

Thursday the team will be going through strength testing in the national team training facility with the on ice sessions happening at the Kisstadion. The squad will be split into two with with separate training sessions and inter squad scrimmages on the 5th and the 6th.

Head coach Tibor Marton: The Russian trip has been cancelled and because of this we had to find another opponent, we will be in the Kisstadion from Friday through Sunday. We tried to take advantage of the summer as much as we could, we had on and off ice testing as much as we could, each girl received a personal workout schedule and with the testing were able to keep track of how they were doing. We will be working with two squads during the camp, with one on and one off ice practice per day per squad and in the afternoons we will have scrimmages. On Sunday we will be working with the final traveling roster.
