The national team has another day of on ice and dry practices on the books in preparation for the world championships.
Much like on Tuesday, Wednesday had a 100 minute morning practice session and a 90 minute afternoon session. In the morning the team was split in two as both groups were on the ice for 45 minutes and in the gym for 45 as well. After Tuesday practice the national team roster got one step closer to being finalized as goalie Bence Kiss was sent home after it was clear that Miklós Rajna was fit.
On Thursday the team will be on the ice only in the morning as they prepare for the game against Austria on Friday.
Balázs Somogyi: This is the longest I have been with the national team, in the past I didn’t make it past the first cut. We just finished a pretty rough practice, the coaching staff wants us to build up our stamina as well as able to think and make the right decision when we are tired. Yesterday and today we started to go over some tactical elements that we would like to do for the exhibition games. Im sure on Thursday we will be working on the power play and penalty kill.
Krisztián Nagy: For the morning practice we were split into two groups, there were three lines and we were really flying very fast paced with a lot of shots, we were practicing how to play in a tight space.
Kevin Wehrs: It was good everyone is getting their legs back in shape, just working hard and learning the systems, it's fun and trying to get up to gear. A lot of the systems are similar to what I have played in in the past. For the most part systems are pretty close and there are some minor details to get used to but in the end hockey is hockey.
