The Hungarian Women's U18 team came back Monday afternoon from Vaujany, France where they played three games against the host nation of the upcoming U18 world championships.
After a short training camp the girls made the 20 hour bus ride to France, where Friday night they played their first game. The French team won 4-0 over the Hungarians who had Maruyama Yumi in net.
On Saturday the coaching staff decided to go with Vanessa Horváth but the Hungarians did not play any better as the French side put five goals past Horváth.
On Sunday the Hungarian girls managed to score a goal as Jelena Grkovic found the back of the net. At the halfway point of the match the held a 2-1 lead when the floodgates opened up and the home team pulled away for a 9-1 win.
“The new coaching staff is very good, we had some hard fast practices where we practiced some new tactics,” said team captain Lotti Odnoga. “The French team was a squad that has been playing together for a long time, with two really good players. We kept on playing better as the weekend went on even though this might not have been reflected in the score, we gave up some easy goals.”
