In she scored a goal against Canada at the 2013 at the Women’s U18 A-Pool World Championships and has since become a staple of the Women’s senior team Tifani Horváth has returned to Budapest after one season in Switzerland.
After out growing the junior league in Hungary Horváth and her national squad teammate Andi Kiss joined Swiss side SC Weinfelden last season where she had five goals and two assists in eleven games. This offseason she decided to return to Hungary and play for KMH Budapest which plays in the Austrian based EWHL.
What was your first import season like?
It was actually pretty hard, I didn’t really believe it when they told me being an import isn't always the high life. I was homesick for a long time, I picked up an injury and thus I had to travel back to Budapest a couple of times during the season which made things even harder out in Switzerland. In the second half of the season everything came together, I started to feel more comfortable, we faced some great teams in the league.
How did you spend your summer?
It was great from the point of preparation, this was the hardest I have ever worked during an offseason. I had great workout plan and I feel very strong.
How did the idea of switching clubs come up?
My team in Switzerland really wanted me back but I also had KMH calling me as well, it was a tough decision to make. I picked KMH because I felt that the amount of practice time and the quality of the practices was better, which was the most important for me. We have the Olympic Qualifiers coming up soon so I had to take that into consideration as well.
You have played in the EWHL in the past so the league will not be completely new to you, what are you expecting from the upcoming season?
I am expecting a hard grinding season with a lot of games, we have already started on ice practises which have gone great so far. We have a new coach who came over from the Vienna Sabres so I have a lot of high expectations from the upcoming season.
