The Hungarian U20 team opened up their weekend tournament in Budapest against France, a team that they will face in December at the world championships.

HC Rich Chernomaz decided to start Dániel Kornakker in net for the game. The game remained scoreless through the first period and 6.33 into the second when Mark Száller was sitting in the penalty box for tripping, Malo Ville capitalized on it to give France a 1-0.

The score remained 1-0 in favor of the visitors for the rest of the second period and deep into the third, with just under five minutes remaining Hungary pulled even. Because of offsetting penalties the teams were skating 4 on 4 when VilmosGalló and Ferenc Kocsis combined to set up Bence Stipsicz to make it 1-1.

The game did not stay tied for long as Fabien Kazarine scored at 57:10 to set the final score at 2-1 in favor of France.

Ice Level Opinions

Csanád Erdély: “It was a tough game, we dominated for the second half of the game, absolutely we were the better team physically. Unfortunately we could not capitalize on our powerplay.”

András Herszényi: “It was very balanced game from start to finish, we worked and were grinding. We killed all of our penalties except for one. We had a number of power plays that were unable to capitalize on, we need to improve in this area. Despite losing the game we played really well, the coaching staff was happy with our performance and our attitude. We can’t get down about the game since we have one tomorrow as well.”
