
The U18 and U16 national team played today as well both next door in Austria.
U18
Hungary-Italy 2-4
Coach Glen Williamson gave Dávid Kovács the start in net, Hungary jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period on goals by Bence Szabó and Dávid Sebestyén, the team held the two goal lead past the halfway mark when Trivello score for Italy to make it a one goal game. In the first minute of the third period Fink tied it up and later gave Italy their first lead of the game. The Italians managed to hold on for the win as they scored a fourth goal with less than two minutes left in the game when Gasser scored.
Head Coach Glen Williamson: We started well and the temp was high with great speed we created chances and had 42 shots on net, the players committed but we just need time. Everyone was angry about the loss, we will reload and get ready for tomorrow. We need to get tougher we need to score more rebound goals and get more organized.
U16
Slovenia-Hungary 3-1
Head coach Zoltán Szilassy gave Levente Márkus the start in net for the opening game against Slovenia. The game stayed scoreless through the first period and into the second, Slovenia took the lead at 33:47 on a power play goal. The score stayed 1-0 deep into the game, with under five minute left the game got real exciting, Bence Paterka tied it up at 1-1 but Slovenia score again and in the end they tacked up an empty net goal.
Assistant coach Csaba Virág: We played a great game, we were able to pick up the pace of Slovenia, the guys stuck to the game plan. We had more shots on net and we created chances when the game was 5 on 5, unfortunately we let in two shorthanded goals
