The current Dunaújváros forward and Sapporo hero Imre Peterdi is back coaching a youth national team, this time he is with the U16 team where he shared his personal experience from his hockey career.
Icehockey.hu first asked Peterdi about what it is like to be working with a younger age group as he was with the U18 in October.
“These guys know that they are young and that they are lacking experience but it is still refreshing to work with them.”
“I have been playing for 27 years and I would like pass that on to these guys, I have worked with Swedish, Canadian, Russian and Czech coaches who I learned a lot from.
“They didn’t really have any questions as this is all still new to them compared to the U17 and U18 squads, I also told them that if they had any questions or that if they prefered that could find me and we can talk privately if they prefered.”
Peterdi also answered questions about playing on Tuesday against the Czech Legends with the Sapporo Heros. “Tomorrow I will be stepping on the ice, tomorrow I will be with the youth team and later in the afternoon I will be with the old team again, it will be a great game in this great building. It will be nice to have the national team jersey on again.”
“It is kind of interesting to me who is still an active player that we will be playing with old boys rules, it hit me as geez maybe I’m getting up there in age.”
