With the U16 A team playing in Kamloops Canada, a ‘B’ squad travelled to Poprad Slovakia for a tournament as well. On the first day of the tournament the Hungarian national team took on the U16 teams of Poland and also the local Popard team as well.
This 22 man Hungarian team is being coached by Rastislav Ondrejcik with Glen Williamson being off in Canada.
The game of the tourmans was Sunday early afternoon where Hungary took on Poland, after a scoreless first period Poland took a one goal lead, in the third period Márk Stadler tied the game up at 1-1 off of a Balázs Fehérgyarmati rebound. Poland scored their second and also winning goal late in the period, Gergely Farkas was named player of the game.
Later in the afternoon Hungary was back on the ice again to take on the U16 team team of local club HK Poprád. Dominik Horváth got the start in net, Hungary was the better team in the first period but they were not able to score, Poprád scored first on a counter attack. In the second period with Hungary on the power play Poprád managed to score a shorthanded goal. Fehérgyarmati cut the Popárd lead in half when a shot went off the skate and in for the Hungarian goal. It looked as if Hungary had tied the game up but the officials concluded that the puck was kicked in so the goal was nullified. Late in the game Poprád called timeout and scored a late goal to make it 3-1.
