U17: Great team work VS Presov

The U17 national team gained valuable experience against the HC Presov U20 squad.

The younger national team was only down by one goal through two periods against the older and more experienced Slovak team. Head coach Glen Williamson gave Botond Maros the start between the pipes for the first national team game of teh season for the guys born in 1999. Maros had replaced  Kristóf Nagy in the team who had to miss the trip because of illness.

HC Presov opened up the scoring with a goal in the 4th minute, they doubled their lead by the nine minute mark. Hungary got on the scoreboard when Gábor Türmer scored three minutes later to make it 2-1. Despite controlling most of the game Presov was not able to score, Hungary did not create many chances in the attacking end but there defending was outstanding. Goaltending was excellent and the skater were doing their part in blocking shots. At the midway point of the game Bendegúz Pinczés replaced Botond Maros in net, and shot the door on the Slovak side in the second half of the second period. Unfortunately the difference in age and experience finally showed up as Presov wore down Hungary and pulled away in the final twenty minutes. At the 49 minute mark of the game Presov had opened up a 4-1 lead and quickly scored two more in the next two minutes however Roland Kiss also scored during that time frame, in the end Hungary lost 8-2 to the team that was two-three years older than them.
