U18: Tight win vs Slovakia

The Hungarian U18 was back on the ice for their second exhibition game after a day off on Wednesday. On Tuesday Hungary won against Slovak club Ruzinov 5-3.

Glen Williamson gave Dávid Márk Kovács the start in net and Martin Szeles came in at the midway point of the game. Martin Szeles, Ákos Szigeti, Nándor Fejes, Brúnó Kreisz, Rajmund Bukor, Dávid Molnár and Ákos Nagy were all back in the lineup sitting out against the Slovak U17 national team was Dávid Sebestyén, Máté Seregély, Miklós Gyurgyev, Kristóf Nagy, Ferenc Simotics and Tamás Varga.

Hungary jumped out to a 1-0 lead on an early goal by Márk Almási, minutes later Renátó Tóth doubled the Hungarian. The home team would close out the period with a 4-0 lead as Bálint Horváth scored a power play goal and Patrik Kiss on the two man advantage.

The score stayed the same until the closing seconds of the second period when Slovakia scored to make it 4-1, the momentum stayed in the Slovaks favor as they scored two quick goals to make it a one goal game. Donát Szita answered back to put Hungary back up by two, and a Marcell Révész power play goal made it 6-3. In the last minute of play Slovakia scored twice to make the outcome a one goal game.

Barna Majoross: We started great and scored four goals, I think we had won the game by then and we let them get back into the game. We managed to pull away again but we picked up two stilly goals in the last minute but we end picking up the win.

Assistant coach Szabolcs Fodor: the first period went great but I think our Northern neighbors might have looked down on us and this was why we could pull away, but we were able to see how strong they were as they came back. We can learn from this game that we need to concentrate for 60 minutes.
