U18: Tomorrow’s game will be much harder

Some of the players and assistant coach Szabolcs Fodor gave their opinions about the game against Poland and what could be expected tomorrow against Belarus.

Nátán Vértes, forward: It was a great experience for me to be playing in my first U18 game, I think I left everything on the ice and I fought until the end. I had an assist and also scored an important goal. I left everything on the ice and the team played great as well. The Polish team played well but in the end we played better.

András Molnár, forward: I scored the winning goal after the opponent turned over the puck and managed to create a 3 on 1 opportunity that I converted. This was a physical game and because of this there were a lot of checks.

Olivér Galló, goalie: It was hard at times, they made some great passes and set up some good screens which prevented me from seeing the puck. I teammates played great in front of me. It was a great honor to follow my brothers in playing for the Hungarian U18 national team.

Bálint Pákozdi, forward
: I didn’t really know what to expect but I knew it was not going to be easy. I tried to motivate my teammates as much as possible. I  managed to score a nice goal off of a set play. Tomorrow's game will be much harder.

Szabolcs Fodor, assistant coach: We knew this will be hard game and everyone once to prove that they belong in the squad. Poland was a strong team but we were able to pick up the physical style that Poland was playing. The goals were just about scored in pairs, this tends to happen at this level when one team takes the lead they might take it back a bit which lets the other team strike back. We know tomorrow will not be easy as the Belarusian U18 team will be playing in the A-Pool in this year's world championships. I expect it to be a good and hard fought game tomorrow.
